Royal Announcement: His Royal Majesty, Nayiri Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga II to Lead Panel on Traditional Approaches to Electoral Peace-building

The Nanung Peace Initiative (NPI) is honored to announce that His Royal Majesty, Nayiri Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga II, the esteemed Overlord of the Manpurugu Kingdom, will lead a distinguished panel discussion at the “Traditional and Religious Leaders’ Advocacy for Peaceful Elections in Ghana 2024” event. Scheduled for November 2, 2024, at the UDS Multi-Purpose Auditorium in Tamale from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm, this landmark event will address critical issues surrounding electoral peace.

His Royal Majesty will guide the panel discussion titled “Perspectives from Traditional Leaders: Traditional Approaches to Electoral Peace-building.” His profound insights and experience in promoting peace and unity will be central to exploring how traditional leadership can effectively contribute to a peaceful electoral process.

The event will also feature:

  • Renowned religious leaders in Ghana, including prominent Islamic and Christian clerics, who will offer their spiritual perspectives and moral guidance on promoting unity and peace during the electoral period.
  • The Parliament of Ghana, including the Speaker of Parliament, the Majority Leader, the Minority Leader, and the Majority and Minority Chief Whips, who will provide essential legislative perspectives and discuss strategies for ensuring peaceful elections.
  • Diplomatic representatives from selected embassies, who will share their international perspectives on the role of diplomacy in supporting electoral peace and collaboration.
  • Flagbearers from political parties, who will contribute their viewpoints on their role in fostering a peaceful and transparent electoral environment.
