The Nanung Peace Initiative (NPI) is pleased to announce that Mrs. Levinian Addae Mensah, the Executive Director of the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP), will join as a special guest speaker at the “Traditional and Religious Leaders’ Advocacy for Peaceful Elections in Ghana 2024” event. This important gathering will take place on November 2, 2024, at the UDS Multi-Purpose Auditorium in Tamale, from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.
As a respected advocate for peace and conflict prevention in West Africa, Mrs. Levinian Addae Mensah will deliver a critical address on “The Role of Civil Society in Election Monitoring.” Her speech will highlight the significant role civil society organizations (CSOs) play in upholding electoral transparency, ensuring accountability, and promoting peaceful electoral outcomes.
Her address will focus on:
- The critical role of CSOs in monitoring electoral processes to prevent fraud and ensure fairness.
- Effective strategies civil society can use to mediate conflict and reduce tensions during elections.
- The need for collaboration between civil society, electoral commissions, and international observers to promote credible elections.
- WANEP’s continued contributions to peacebuilding, including its election monitoring efforts and its collaboration with other stakeholders to ensure a peaceful electoral environment.
As the Executive Director of WANEP, Mrs. Levinian Addae Mensah brings a wealth of experience in conflict prevention and election monitoring across West Africa. Her insights will help shed light on the important contributions that civil society can make toward ensuring peaceful and transparent elections in Ghana.
