The Nanung Peace Initiative (NPI) is honored to announce that Sheikh Umar Ibrahim Imam, the esteemed Imam of Ahlussuna Wal Jamaa, will serve as a panel member at the “Traditional and Religious Leaders’ Advocacy for Peaceful Elections in Ghana 2024” event, scheduled for November 2, 2024, at the UDS Multi-Purpose Auditorium in Tamale, from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.
As a respected Islamic leader, Sheikh Umar Ibrahim Imam will contribute to the panel discussion titled “The Islamic Perspective on Peaceful Elections,” sharing his insights on how Islamic teachings can support peaceful electoral processes. His participation will underscore the critical role of Islamic leadership in promoting peace, justice, and unity during elections.
Sheikh Umar Ibrahim Imam’s contributions will focus on:
- Islamic principles of peace, justice, and harmony, and how they can guide the Muslim community in ensuring peaceful participation in elections.
- The role of Muslim leaders in advocating for responsible citizenship and non-violence during the electoral period.
- The importance of Islamic values such as fairness, respect for authority, and communal cohesion in fostering a peaceful electoral environment.
The panel will include:
- Renowned Islamic clerics from across Ghana, offering additional spiritual guidance on the importance of peaceful elections.
- Other panelists, including traditional leaders, political representatives, and diplomats, providing diverse perspectives on electoral peace.
- Political party flagbearers, who will reaffirm their commitment to peaceful and fair election campaigns.
