The Nanung Peace Initiative (NPI) is proud to share highlights from an official visit to Her Excellency Fidelia Graand-Galon, Ambassador of the Republic of Suriname, on 26th February 2025 in Accra.
This engagement reaffirmed the critical role of cultural diplomacy in advancing peace, unity, and sustainable development across borders. Our discussions explored the deep-rooted historical and cultural ties between Suriname and the Mampurusi, Dagomba, and Nanumba communities of Ghana—ties strengthened by shared values of unity, resilience, and respect for heritage.
Key Strategic Areas Proposed for Collaboration:
• Cultural Exchange & Heritage Preservation: Joint programs to celebrate traditional music, dance, and storytelling, while preserving oral histories that highlight our intertwined heritage.
• Peacebuilding & Intercultural Dialogue: Collaborative workshops and forums on peacebuilding strategies, leveraging Suriname’s ethnic harmony experiences and Ghana’s community mediation successes.
• Youth Empowerment & Leadership Development: Leadership initiatives aimed at promoting peace advocacy, cultural diplomacy, and sustainable development among young leaders.
• Sustainable Community Development: Knowledge-sharing platforms focused on eco-tourism, sustainable agriculture, and community-driven economic empowerment.
• Regional & International Peace Networks: Facilitating NPI’s participation in international peace forums through Suriname’s strategic ties within CARICOM and South American networks.
NPI is confident that these strategic collaborations will not only foster growth and development but also serve as a model for cross-continental partnerships rooted in mutual respect, cultural appreciation, and a shared commitment to peace.
Together, we are building bridges for unity, progress, and lasting prosperity.
