A Transformative Experience: Political Advisor Course for Peace Initiatives and Operations in Africa

Over the past days, I had the profound opportunity to participate in the Political Advisor Course for Peace Operations in Africa an intensive and eye-opening program that brought together 20 participants from 9 West African countries. This course, generously supported by the Federal Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Austria and facilitated by the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), has truly been one of the most impactful platforms in my peacebuilding journey.

The experience was nothing short of transformative. From engaging in deep and practical discussions on political advisory roles to sharing insights with fellow participants, the course provided not just knowledge but a powerful network of peacebuilders, both nationally and across the continent.

It significantly sharpened my skills in conflict analysis, mediation, negotiation, political reporting, and stakeholder engagement all of which strongly align with the mission, vision, and core values of the Nanung Peace Initiative (NPI). I return with renewed energy and a stronger capacity to contribute to NPI’s commitment to promoting peace, dialogue, and responsive governance in Ghana and beyond.

I am truly grateful for this enriching opportunity, and I look forward to applying the knowledge and connections gained to deepen NPI’s impact and expand its role in building peaceful communities.
