Nanung Peace Initiative (NPI) extends its deepest gratitude to COGINTA, the National Peace Council (NPC), and the European Union (EU) for continuously investing in the capacity of Local Peace Committees and peace actors in northern Ghana. For close to three years now, your training and guidance have been invaluable in strengthening our collective role in peacebuilding.
Most recently, at the Yendi Peace Center, you organized a two-day capacity-building program on Preventing Violent Extremism and Supporting Peacebuilding Mechanisms in the Five Northern Border Regions. This initiative has broadened our understanding and renewed our commitment to sustaining peace in our communities.
During the training, committee members from the selected districts and municipalities were given the opportunity to share their activities and achievements from the past months to a year. This exchange of experiences provided rich lessons and encouraged stronger collaboration across catchment areas.
Representing NPI, our Executive Director, Alhassan Somed Dasana, who also serves as a member of the Local Peace Committee in the Nanumba North Municipality, actively participated and acknowledges the tremendous value of this initiative.
We are particularly grateful for the establishment of an ultra-modern Peace Project facility in the Nanumba North Municipality, equipped with offices and a conference room to support peace work. This investment is a true legacy that will strengthen coordination, dialogue, and long-term peace efforts in our municipality.
Through your efforts, we have been equipped with critical tools in:
- Conflict management and prevention
- Early warning systems
- Peace education
- Women and youth empowerment through employment
On behalf of NPI and the people of Nanung, we say a heartfelt thank you to COGINTA, NPC, and the EU for continuously shaping us into stronger peace ambassadors and for leaving behind tangible facilities that will sustain peacebuilding for generations to come.
