A Message of Deep Appreciation and Enduring Partnership from Nanung Peace Initiative (NPI)
On the occasion of Austria’s National Day, Nanung Peace Initiative (NPI), on behalf of the Nanung Kingdom, extends its warmest congratulations and sincere goodwill to the President of the Republic of Austria, His Excellency Alexander Van der Bellen, the Austrian Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Jürgen Heissel, the Austrian Centre for Peace (ACP), and the Government and people of Austria.
Today is more than a celebration of a nation; it is an opportunity to recognise the power of friendship, international solidarity, and partnerships that transform lives and bring hope to communities.
For Nanung Peace Initiative and the Nanung Kingdom, Austria holds a special place in our peacebuilding journey. Through our engagement with the Austrian Centre for Peace and the HAWA programme, we have experienced the value of international cooperation, knowledge sharing, capacity building, and a genuine commitment to strengthening peace at the grassroots level.
Your partnership has helped carry the voice of Nanung beyond our borders, creating opportunities for our people to engage with the wider international peacebuilding community. For us, this is not merely institutional cooperation; it is a meaningful investment in our shared future, our communities, and the generations that will inherit the peace we are working so hard to sustain.
We are particularly grateful to H.E. Ambassador Jürgen Heissel for his engagement with our community, and to the Austrian Centre for Peace and its partners for creating opportunities that connect international peacebuilding expertise with local realities. These efforts have strengthened our belief that lasting peace is achieved when international partners recognise, respect, and work alongside local institutions and traditional authorities.
As Executive Director of NPI, I consider this partnership an important chapter in our organisation’s mission to promote peace, unity, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence in the Nanung Kingdom and beyond. We are proud that our local peacebuilding efforts continue to connect with international initiatives, demonstrating that communities such as Nanung have valuable experiences and contributions to offer the world.
